Why I always have a wide range of Foundations in my Kit ?
Why it is so Important?
As a woman of color, finding the shade for me is very important. My preferred base is one that is more natural/clean and not overly done. So in order to have that look, my foundation has to be as close to my skin color as possible for me to feel comfortable going out. So I put myself in the shoes of my comrades, Models. My Kit has to comply with my Model!
From my experience, I have heard, seen and directly been told that, “Makeup Artists never have my colour,” or “ I am so glad you are a woman of Colour!'“ The lack of variety causes a lack of confidence and makes other feel inferior. As a Makeup Artist, I would never want anyone sitting in my chair to feel that way!
Therefore, my kit is stacked with the darkest to the lightest and the in-between! Thankfully, It has become a lot easier to achieve this variety with brands like Fenty, Uoma, Mented to name a few. However, there have been brand who always had a wide variety like Makeup Forever, Estee Lauder, Iman Cosmetics and more.
The point is…. Our Kits Can Be Full!
